After photographing the most lovely winter wedding day in upstate New York this December, I took the train to experience Christmas in New York City. Christmas in Manhattan is something you see in some of the best movies of the season – Buddy marveling at the Rockefeller Center Tree in Elf, Kevin staying at the Plaza in Home Alone 2, and all of the magical moments in Miracle on 34th Street. It only felt right to experience it myself while I was in the state, and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to. (And I have to say, Buddy and Kevin were on to something when they stood in awe of the tree at Rockefeller Center – I stood there staring for a long time when I rounded the corner and it came into view. It definitely lived up to the hype.)
I’ve included a small gallery of photos from the moments I brought my camera along with me during my time in the city. Below are photographs of the decorations at Macy’s on 34th Street, the Rockefeller Center Tree, the stunning lights that decorate Saks Fifth Avenue, and the spectacular decorations in Hudson Yards.
